My name is Carol Shukle and I am happy to greet you as your new Province Director.
I was installed Aug. 26 at the NCCW convention in Salt Lake City. I replaced Chris Heiderscheid of the New Ulm Diocese who was PD from 2021-2023. I really want to thank Chris for her service the past two years and her generous help to me in learning my new role.
I grew up the eldest of six children in Brooklyn Center, MN at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. My husband, Ed, and I have been married for 44 years and have four adult children. For the past 37 years we have been members of Our Lady of the Lake parish in Mound, MN where I have been active in the Council of Catholic Women in almost every capacity, including the office of president twice. I have also led a funeral luncheon team, taught religious ed and worked on the parish festival. I am currently a member of the choir and bell choir, a volunteer wedding coordinator and work in the parish thrift store. In other words —
I am pretty typical of Catholic women active in parishes today. I have been a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women Board of Directors for nearly 30 years starting as deanery president (two terms). I served as Archdiocesan president from 2007-2009 and currently edit the ACCW newsletter, the Image. I recently retired as the administrative assistant to the Westonka School District Superintendent and School Board.
I am looking forward to meeting many of you over the next two years!

At the February, 2024 meeting, the board voted to take a vendor booth at the Star of the North Eucharistic Congress May 17-18 in Bemidji. This conference preceeds the Eucharistic procession that will begin May 19 at Itasca. It is jointly sponsored by the dioceses of Duluth and Crookston. This is a wonderful opportunity for people who would like to attend the big congress in Indianapolis in July but can't. The province board felt the exposure to Catholic women throughout the upper Midwest and especially those living in the Crookston Diocese, which is not yet affiliated, would be beneficial.

As I looked last night, it seemed that people who want to attend should make plans sooner rather than later, especially if you need a hotel. The conference schedule starts at 7 p.m. Friday and concludes at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, so I am guessing that is how long we will have the booth. People could leave at the end and have one night in a hotel or stay for the Mass and procession kick-off at Itasca Sunday morning.
